# Buckinghamia

_**Buckinghamia**_ is a [genus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genus "Genus") of only two known species of trees, belonging to the plant family [Proteaceae](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proteaceae "Proteaceae"). They grow naturally only ( [endemic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endemism "Endemism")) in the [rainforests of the wet tropics region](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queensland_tropical_rain_forests "Queensland tropical rain forests") of north eastern [Queensland](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queensland "Queensland"), Australia. The **ivory curl flower**, _B. celsissima_, is the well known, popular and widely cultivated species in gardens and parks, in eastern and southern mainland Australia, and additionally as street trees north from about Brisbane. The second species, _B. ferruginiflora_, was only recently described in 1988.
