# Daviesia

_**Daviesia**_, commonly known as **Bitter-peas**, is a large [genus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genus) of [flowering plants](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flowering_plants) in the [legume](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabaceae) family. They are native to [Australia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia), with a [center of diversity](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Center_of_diversity) in western Australia. The genus is named in honour of [Hugh Davies](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_Davies_(botanist)), a Welsh botanist. They have nitrogen-fixing bacteria contained in [root nodules](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_nodules) like other genera in their family.
