# Xanthorrhoea

_**Xanthorrhoea**_ is a [genus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genus) of about 30 species of [flowering plants](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flowering_plant) endemic to [Australia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia), and is a member of the [family](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_(biology)) [Asphodelaceae](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asphodelaceae), being the only member of the subfamily **Xanthorrhoeoideae**. The Xanthorrhoeoideae are [monocots](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monocotyledon), part of order [Asparagales](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asparagales).
